- Students complete the course for which they have enrolled and return to their home country.
- Choose to leave Roydvale School to continue their study at another school in New Zealand.
- Students fail to attend school on a regular basis (act truant).
- Students returning to their home country will receive a letter from the school to explain the year of schooling completed.
- Students who leave Roydvale School to attend another school in New Zealand will have their school records forwarded to the new school when requested.
Introduction
The enrolment of International Students provides a valuable dimension to the school, and should be mutually beneficial to both the overseas students and to those who are New Zealand citizens or residents.
Guidelines
This procedure outlines the role of Roydvale School and parents/caregivers as outlined in the Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students.
Procedures
- CODE OF PRACTICE FOR THE PASTORAL CARE OF INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
1.1 The School will observe and be bound by the Ministry of Education Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students.
- ENROLMENT
2.1 International fee paying students shall be accepted for enrolment at Roydvale School ("the school") on the recommendation of the principal subject to the discretion of the Board of Trustees. Students must be enrolled for at least one term, but preference is given to students who are likely to remain for the whole school year.
2.2 To enrol at Roydvale School International Students must live with at least one parent or legal guardian for the entire time they are enrolled at Roydvale.
- Definition of "legal guardian":
"with legal right and responsibility to provide for the care (including education and health) of an International Student and appointed by a New Zealand or foreign court."
- TERMINATION OF ENROLMENT
3.1 Enrolment can be terminated in the following circumstances:
- Where the student has met the criteria for termination of enrolment in terms of the existing policies and procedures of the School set in accordance with the Education (Stand-down, Suspension, Exclusion and Expulsion) Rules 1999 or any rules passed in substitution thereof.
- Where there is any change in the student's circumstances such that the Principal subject to the discretion of the Board of Trustees considers that it is no longer appropriate for the student to remain enrolled at the School.
- Where the School becomes aware that full disclosure of relevant information related to learning or behaviour difficulties or any other enrolment related information was not indicated in any documentation provided by the parent or caregiver.
