Roydvale School is situated in suburban Northwest Christchurch. Set in spacious grounds it has fourteen classrooms, a library, swimming pool, two adventure playgrounds and a hall. The school also has a tennis court, netball courts, a large sports field and a confidence course for older students.
Roydvale is a very friendly and positive school where there
are high expectations for learning and behaviour. The 300 children who attend
Roydvale are considerate and supportive of each other and are fortunate to be
offered a wealth of opportunities to spark their interests, feed their
enthusiasm and extend their creativity. Whether it is programmes offered as
part of the curriculum or extra-curricula activities, the range offered goes
towards creating well-rounded individuals with a richness of experience.
While all of New Zealand's curriculum areas are taught, the
emphasis of teaching and learning programmes is on Maths and English in order
to build a solid foundation for future learning. The students of Roydvale
School however have the opportunity to gain much more than a basic education
due to the high quality of the teaching and support staff who work together to
provide a breadth of educational experiences in a friendly and caring school
community.
The school has a strong family atmosphere with parents and community members providing assistance in sport coaching, transport for trips and classroom programmes.
